Privacy Policy

This policy explains what District 234 collects when you visit district234.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have. It applies to this website only. Last updated 27 July 2026.

Who we are

District 234 is an African-led culture platform documenting Nigerian music, internet moments, fashion and lifestyle. The site is published and edited by Seun Badejo from Lagos, Nigeria. You can reach us at submissions@district234.com.

What we collect

We collect very little directly. If you email us or submit something, we hold the contact details and message you send. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we hold the email address you give us and use it only to send District 234 editions, which you can leave at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.

If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the comment, the name and email you entered, and your IP address, which is standard practice for spam prevention.

Cookies

Cookies are small files placed on your device. We use them for three things: keeping the site working correctly, understanding roughly how many people read what, and serving advertising.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will not stop you reading the site, though some features may behave differently.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pieces people read and how they found us. This tells us things like which article was popular last week and which country readers came from. It does not tell us who you are. Google’s own handling of this data is covered by their privacy policy.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertising on this site. Advertising is what keeps District 234 free to read.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Third-party ad networks may also place cookies through this site. We do not control those cookies and we do not have access to the data they collect.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address with advertisers. We do not run sponsored editorial without labelling it clearly as such.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email submissions@district234.com and we will respond. If you have subscribed to the newsletter you can remove yourself at any time without contacting us at all.

External links

We link out to other websites, streaming platforms and publications. Once you follow a link away from district234.com, this policy no longer applies, and we are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites.

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
