With her fourth number one song on the Official Nigeria Top 100 charts, our favorite celestial being and Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has recently gifted us with her lively and energetic tune ‘Sability’, and all we can say is “vibes!” In true Ayra fashion, it’s sweet, strong, catchy, and we can’t help but be completely taken in by its charms.

Sability’s soaring chorus is one of sheer beauty, bolstered by Ayra’s expressive and heartfelt vocal delivery. The Mavin Records protégé sings about her remarkable talent and abilities, but she didn’t even need to – we know! This song perfectly infuses the tune of the childhood favorite song – Coupe Bibamba by Awilo Longomba, so it feels warm and familiar.

At first listen, listeners (me) may have been a bit put off by the quintessentially ‘kpangolo’ sound of the track, but the charming layers which Ayra Starr has crafted throughout the song make it simply irresistible. Ayra’s vocals also do her a lot of favors on this song – her voice has a strong but cozy quality to it which lingers long after the song’s conclusion and gives it incredible replay value.

The accompanying music video is littered with some of our favorite internet stars like video creator and model Korty, as well as an exciting feature from billionaire heiress and fashion icon Temi Otedola in an edgy, black patent leather trench coat – which perfectly channeled “sabi girl” and “get the bag” energy. The video is also sprinkled with Korty’s humorously exaggerated but contagious enthusiasm as a director.

As expected, Ayra brought the heat with her unique hairstyle and costume choices, as well as her dance moves – she’s an all-round performer. Very few people dance anymore, so it’s always refreshing to see.

“Sability” has garnered 3.42 million on-demand streams this week, claiming the No. 1 streaming spot in Nigeria and 38.3 million in radio reach. With this song, Ayra Starr proves to us that she really is who she says she is – the ultimate “sabi girl”.
