Record-breaking rap duo Krept & Konan have recently released Smooth Lovin featuring Popcaan.
Smooth Lovin, produced by returning collaborator P2J (Beyonce, Wizkid, Stormzy), is the first official single from Krept & Konan‘s highly anticipated third studio album Young Kingz II. Featuring Jamaican dancehall superstar Popcaan, Smooth Lovin blends Afrobeat rhythms with Caribbean influences showcasing Popcaan’s signature smooth hooks alongside Krept & Konan’s deft storytelling. Created in Jamaica during a month spent recording while reconnecting with their cultural roots, the single is accompanied by an official music video directed by Harry Guest.

Krept and Konan say, ‘Smooth Lovin brings that fusion of Afro and Caribbean vibes thanks to P2J on the production-he’s the genius behind ‘G Love’from our last album and even though winter’s coming, we’re already getting people in the mood for summer 25. We always want to bring it back to our roots, so linking up with Popcaan again was only right.’
The release of Smooth Lovin follows two recent teaser freestyles, which have built excitement for upcoming album, Young Kingz II. Honouring their tradition of solo freestyles, Krept teamed up with Chip forDaily Duppy: New Snap City, while Konan delivered Last Night In Kingston, a powerful sequel to his legendary 2016 freestyle Last Night In LA. Both freestyles provoked a huge response, reaffirming Krept & Konan’s undisputed status as ‘UK rap royalty’.
To mark the release of Young Kingz II, Krept & Konan will host an intimate live show at Outernet London on March 6, 2025. Set for release via their independent label, Play Dirty on the 7th February 2025, Young Kingz II is Krept & Konan’s first album since top-5 charting Revenge Is Sweet, a project which cemented their place in music history and saw them become the first British rap act to headline the O2 London. Italsofollows the duo’s equally ground-breaking 2017 release of7 DAYS and 7 NIGHTS, which saw them become the first act ever to have two mixtapes simultaneously enter the Top 10 of the Official UK Albums chart, and their 2015 debut album The Long Way Home which debuted at no. 2 on The Official UK Albums Chart, becoming the highest charting British Rap album in UK chart history.
With Young Kingz II, Krept & Konan are set to continue their legacy as iconic pioneers in the British music scene. Poised to be their most personal project to date as they return to their roots, and come full circle with the follow up to their 2013 self-released Young Kingzmixtape which catapulted the duo into the Top 20 of The Official UK Albums Chart, earning them a Guinness World Record for the highest charting UK album by an unsigned act.
Young Kingz was pivotal in establishing Krept & Konan as trailblazers in the UK rap scene, kickstarting their reputation for repeatedly breaking records and consistently breaking ground. With a broad-ranging rollcall of featured artists, it heralded their signature approach to collaborations of enlisting fledgling artists (such as a then little-known MC Stormzy), alongside more established ones (George The Poet, Chip, Tine Tempah and Giggs). It also saw Krept & Konan gain traction across the Atlantic with US rappers French Montana, Chinx Drugz, Lil Durk stepping up on the remix of the mixtape’s second single release, ‘Don’t Waste My Time’, and garnered them a BET Award (Best International Act) and MOBO Award (Best Hip-Hop Act).
Young Kingz II is poised to be yet another milestone in Krept & Konan’s unstoppable career as they continue to push boundaries and set new benchmarks in British music.
